Title:  ‘Olive Branch’ Seat

Location:  Cenotaph Gardens, Willington, Co. Durham, 2005

Materials:   Grey & Buff Granite with Stainless Steel

Description:  At the far end of the town’s newly laid out cenotaph garden, opposite the old war memorial, this 4 metre long seat overlooks a tranquil river valley. The word ‘PEACE’ is engraved into either side of the central slab with it’s translation in German, French, Russian, Dutch, Italian and Hebrew on the sides of the seat blocks. Above, in a stainless steel arc, is the age-old symbol of peace – the olive branch.
