Description:
Placed at a prominent road junction into this ex-mining village, the
central carving shows the main tools of the miner’s trade - pick,
shovel and lamp – with the mine tunnel behind. On the surrounding
face and sides, tiles made
on a mining theme by pupils
of the local primary school were recessed into the stone.
