Title:   ‘Waving Fence’

Location:   Lottie’s Wood, Sunniside, Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, 1997

Materials:   Elm

Description:  Commissioned by the Woodland Trust as boundary to a newly planted  site, the waving, rise and fall rhythm of the fence was created using a set number of tapered palings, fixed a regular distance apart over each 12 foot section, with the direction of taper being inverted at the halfway point. The design incorporates a number of carved, plant-like elements between each section and at the entrance.
