Title :
Walter’s Wood Stile
Locatio ;
Ouston, Co. Durham, 1998
Material :
Elm
Description :
The two sides of
a 7ft long board of elm were carved, each with a sinuous
design (one based on a
pathway, the other a stream) which allowed for the inclusion of a
variety of animal life. The rounded top was pierced through to give
the appearance of sunset on one side and sunrise on the other, and
the board then fixed as part of a stile.
