Title:
‘Art & Heritage Wall’
Location:
West Cornforth, Co
Durham, 2001
Materials:
Stone-fired ceramic tiles
Description:
Five recessed panels were built in to a new retaining wall in the
centre of this ex-mining village. In a series of clay workshops each
of three local groups produced tiles for their own panel while the
other two were designed by the artist to reflect the industrial
heritage of Cornforth, and made to be read as single scenes,
balancing the patchwork effect of the others.
